Yes! The Arches National Park Shuttle is completely free to ride. But there’s a catch: while the transportation costs nothing, the shuttle provides access to only a small portion of the park.
Introduced in September 2026, the Moab–Arches Shuttle connects Moab with two popular destinations inside Arches National Park. It’s a convenient option for visitors without a car, but understanding its limitations is important before planning your visit.
Is the Arches Shuttle Really Free?
Yes. There are no shuttle fares, transportation tickets, or advance reservations required.
However, you still need a valid national park entrance pass to board the shuttle. Free transportation does not mean free admission to Arches National Park.
You will still need to pay the $30 per vehicle entry free which will cover all visitors who would enter together in one vehicle. Visitors with existing valid annual or lifetime passes can enter at no additional cost and their pass also covers all who would travel in one vehicle together.
You can find current admission prices on the official Arches National Park website.
What’s the Catch? The Free Shuttle Is Limited.
The biggest limitation of the Arches Shuttle isn’t its cost. It’s where it takes you.
The shuttle makes only two stops inside Arches National Park: one sightseeing stop and one hiking trailhead stop.
- The Windows Section: Access to North Window, South Window, Turret Arch, and nearby Double Arch.
- Delicate Arch Trailhead: Access to the famous three-mile round-trip hike to Delicate Arch.
These are wonderful destinations, but they represent only a fraction of what Arches National Park has to offer.
The shuttle does not stop at Park Avenue, Courthouse Towers, Balanced Rock, Fiery Furnace Viewpoint, or Devils Garden, home to Landscape Arch and several other remarkable hiking trails.
You also won’t have the freedom to stop at scenic overlooks along the way or explore different sections of the park on a whim.
In other words, the shuttle is free, but you’re trading the freedom to explore for the convenience of complimentary transportation.
Is the Free Arches Shuttle Worth Taking?
Absolutely, if your plans are limited to the two destinations it serves.
If you’re visiting Moab without a car and want to hike Delicate Arch or explore the Windows, the shuttle can be a convenient and economical solution. It also eliminates the challenge of finding parking at these popular trailheads.
However, if your goal is to experience the wider beauty of Arches National Park, the shuttle may leave you wishing you’d seen more.
Unlike Zion National Park, where the shuttle provides access to much of the main canyon, the Arches shuttle doesn’t function as a comprehensive sightseeing service.
Is Driving or Taking a Guided Tour a Better Value?
If you already have a car, driving yourself is generally the better option. You can explore the park’s scenic roads, stop at iconic viewpoints, choose from numerous hiking trails, and enjoy the landscape at your own pace.
If you don’t have a vehicle, a comprehensive guided tour is worth considering. Unlike the shuttle, a well-designed sightseeing tour can take you throughout the park, visiting many of its most famous formations and viewpoints in one experience.
Although a guided tour costs more than the free shuttle, it offers something the shuttle cannot: a much more complete Arches National Park experience.
The Bottom Line: Free Doesn’t Mean Complete
The Arches National Park Shuttle is a welcome addition to Moab’s transportation options. It makes two popular destinations more accessible and helps visitors avoid parking difficulties.
But for now free transportation at Arches comes with limited access.
If you only want to visit the Windows or hike Delicate Arch, the shuttle is a great choice. If you want to discover what makes the entire park extraordinary, consider driving yourself or joining a comprehensive guided tour.
After all, the goal isn’t simply to get into Arches National Park. It’s to experience it.
